Merchant Account Authorization Code

Merchant Council

An authorization code is supplied by the issuing bank to identify an approved credit card (or bank card) transaction. The authorization code is stored within a merchant's credit card terminal, gateway, or processing software until it is sent back to the issuing bank for clearing and settlement purposes.
