A ticket refers to a sales slip or an individual transaction. A ticket has somewhat of a double meaning. It may refer to the actual paper receipt, or to an electronic transaction. For instance, a merchant’s average ticket would be their average individual sale amount. To figure out the average ticket for your business, simply divide your gross sales by the total number of transactions. To figure out your average ticket for credit card sales, only consider transactions involving credit cards, and the gross sales that are a result of those transactions. The formula for computing your average ticket is as follows: Gross Sales / Total Transactions = Average Ticket |
