Lodging merchant Account

Merchant Council

Lodging merchant accounts are accounts that are tailored to businesses within the lodging industry such as bead and breakfasts, hotels, motels, etc.

Lodging Merchant Account Characteristics

A lodging merchant account carries much of the same assumptions as a retail merchant account, where a merchant will expected to swipe the majority of their transactions through a credit card machine.

Lodging Rates and Fees

Lodging businesses have much to do with the travel industry. In general, businesses that are associated with travel are considered to be high risk merchant accounts.

Even though lodging merchant accounts are set-up under the assumption that transactions will be run by swiping a customer's credit card (low risk), the close association with the travel industry and high chargeback ratios drive up the rates and fees associated with a lodging merchant account.
